Understanding FLIR.
A FLIR report should be understood as indicating a high probability of an inflection point occurring at the approximate date specified.  An inflection point is defined as almost always marking the start of a trend reversal.  In some instances, where an issue has been trading sideways, it simply indicates a move with direction unknown, but usually up.  In some rare instances, it can indicate trend continuation but at a much steeper rate of climb or descent, or sudden loss of trend momentum and conversion to sideways movement.
Here is the Instructions Page.

Best Practice. READ THE STOCK'S CHART.  If it has been trending up just prior to the inflection point, it will most likely now begin trending downward.  If it has been trending down just prior to the inflection point, it will most likely now begin trending upward.  If it has been trending sideways just prior to the inflection point, it will most likely now begin trending upward (but this one can be tricky, so use some extra caution).
Between now and inflection, the FLIR report may miss several excellent moves.  This is in the nature of quantitative analysis.

Stopping by AFTER a forecast date? Want to VERIFY that we made these forecasts beforehand?
Okay, yahoo forum users cannot edit their posts.  So go check the yahoo timestamps on this thread.-- usually under "radiodude" and sometimes we ask "rhustox90" to post for us.
Enjoy! Report is below!
Overall ytd Analysis-
Of 16 FLIR points so far, 11 were EXACTLY accurate.  The rest were +/- 1 day.
11/16 = 68.75% accuracy (including 2 INTC failures).
Allowing for +/- 1 day, = about 99% accuracy. (not including the 2 INTC FLIRs)
(we are not including INTC in future packages due to this difficulty)
(charts showing ACCURACYare in the free FLIR Sampler mentioned below)...

Here are the honest results so far, based on my "original"
FLIR definition of making EXACT calls.  However, FLIR calls
trend reversals much better- nearly 100%.

Successes are in bold blue, failures in bold red.  Other dates (black) are pending.

How is FLIR Produced? FLIR is not automated, or I'd gladly offer more than 10 stocks per package.  Problem is, it's nearly impossible to automate because of character differences between stocks and between timeframes within each stock.  Each FLIR is therefore individually located, making subtle algorithm adjustments as needed until a "match" occurs between algorithms that identify past FLIR points and those signaling future dates.  The calculations are made almost literally by hand.  No matchup after several attempts?  I abandon that stock and move on to the next.  This results in a lot of time spent screening and discarding many stocks.
